Sons of Norway decides meal

Guest Arnold Haugland was introduced at the March 19 meeting of Sons of Norway.

Members voted to serve a traditional meal of fish and meatballs for the Syttende Mai banquet and celebration on May 17. Linda Finck and Kara Helgeson will co-chair this event. More information and tickets will be available at a later date.

Marilyn Garrett and Mary Englund will visit Jamestown schools to determine if there is any interest in SON presenting a program at the school featurings Norwegian heritage and traditions.

Members were asked to share their ideas and/or talents for future programs. There are programs and resources available on the SON website.

Linda Mohn reported on the Troll dancers' activities. Several of the dancers performed at a Girl Scout activity and then taught them a few dances. A workshop to help teach a dance class at Fessenden, N.D., was postponed from March 17 to April 14. Several dancers will help with this workshop.

Following the meeting, a program on Norwegian-American quilting was presented by Helgeson.

Jodi Bunde encouraged members to tour the Arts Center to view her sister Shelly Bunde's series of 53 paintings. The exhibit is on display until March 30.

Garrett will host the April 16 meeting of SON with a tour of her home beginning at 6 p.m. to view her extensive collection of Scandinavian memorabilia. Following the tour members will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Ave Maria Village for the regular monthly meeting.
