The spill occurred after a valve on a saltwater disposal well failed at a site operated by Samson Resources Co.

Samson employees are in the process of cleaning the site, about five miles northwest of Crosby, and are monitoring vegetation. About 90 barrels of brine and 65 barrels of oil have been recovered, according to the health department.

The spill reached a nearby farm field. A state inspector has been on site and will work with the company on a remediation plan, the health department said.
