St. Michael N.D. woman killed in two-car crash
A 54-year-old St. Michael, N.D., woman was killed in a two-car accident Friday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 7:16 p.m. on N.D. Highway 20 about one mile south of Devils Lake.
The patrol said the names of the woman who died and the 40-year-old St. Michael, N.D., man driving the second vehicle, a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, are being withheld until next of kin are notified and the condition of the driver is known.
Chad Tollefson, 37, Devils Lake, was driving a 2006 Ford Taurus north on Hwy. 20 with four minor passengers in the car.
The Oldsmobile was southbound on Hwy. 20 when the driver lost control, went into the northbound lane and struck the car Tollefson was driving.
The patrol said no one in either car was wearing their seat belts.
Tollefson and the passengers in Ford car were treated and released.
The woman killed in the accident and the driver of the Oldsmobile were transported by Lake Region Ambulance Service to Mercy Hospital. The Woman was pronounced dead at the hospital and the driver was air flighted to Grand Forks.
The NDHP, Ramsey County Sheriff's Department and Devils Lake Rural and Devils Lake City Fire responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
