Stunning goal lifts Gophers

PILADELPHIA — Justin Holl scored a shorthanded goal with sixth-tenths of a second to play in leading Minnesota to a 2-1 win over UND on Thursday night in the semifinals of the Frozen Four at Wells Fargo Center.

The win advances Minnesota to Saturday’s championship game against Union.

Sam Warning scored at 10:51 of the third to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead. UND’s Connor Gaarder tied the game at 1-1 at 11:23.

Through two periods, UND had a 24-21 edge in shots on goal.
