Suspect sought in fatal hit-and-run
WILLISTON, N.D. — Police here are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a hit-and-run accident that killed a 31-year-old man Thursday night outside of a Williston bar.
Police responded at 10:55 p.m. Thursday to J Dub’s Bar and Grill after receiving a report that a pickup struck a pedestrian, said Detective David Peterson with the Williston Police Department.
Witnesses said the pickup pulled up to the bar and two people left the bar and entered on the passenger side, Peterson said.
The victim was hanging onto the side of the pickup, standing on the running board, before he slipped and was run over, Peterson said. Emergency responders found the man face down in the street, where he was pronounced dead, Peterson said.
It’s unclear what led up to the incident, said Peterson, who is reviewing surveillance footage.
The vehicle is described as a dark-colored pickup with a newer body style, tinted windows, lifted up with big tires, chrome rims and an ATV in the back of the truck, Peterson said.
People with information about the incident are asked to call Williston police at 701-577-1212.
Peterson said police are not releasing the man’s name until all of his family members have been notified.
