According to the Swift County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Patrick Hammerud has been with the department for more than five years.

The BCA will turn its findings over to the Swift County Attorney’s Office for review when its investigation is complete.

Around 1 a.m. that morning, Hammerud and the Appleton Police Department stopped a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle believed to have been involved in an armed robbery of the Met Lounge in Morris.

During the stop, the suspect was shot twice by Hammerud. The suspect, Brent Allen Anderson, 55, of Alexandria, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

Anderson was charged with aggravated robbery in Stevens County.
