Take some time and attend the Block Party today
The Community Block Party is from 5 to 8 p.m. today, and we hope residents will also take in the event that traditionally welcomes University of Jamestown students.
The Block Party is a fun and creative way for new UJ students to get to know the Jamestown community. It provides an opportunity to see what Jamestown’s businesses, civic groups and churches have to offer.
With 100 booths set up along 1st Avenue South from the railroad tracks to 3rd Street, the new students will find Jamestown has a wide variety of community groups, businesses and churches all eager to get to know them. Businesses take this opportunity to get their names out to the students and perhaps meet some new future employees.
Plus, there will be free food, games and activities for those attending.
While the UJ freshmen are required to attend the Block Party, other students and community members also find the Block Party fun, with freebies galore.
The Block Party takes the work of many volunteers. The Community University Committee, which includes the University of Jamestown and Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce, starts planning the event in the spring.
The Block Party is a good opportunity for everyone to step out of their routine for a while, walk around downtown Jamestown, check out the booths and enjoy the day.
Welcome to Jamestown, UJ students; we hope you and residents have a great time at the Community Block Party.
