Tax statements mailed today
The 2010 real estate tax statements are being mailed today, said Stutsman County Treasurer, Jan Thompson. County residents who have not received a statement by next week are asked to contact the Treasurer's Office at 252-9036. Mobile home statements will be mailed later in December by the Tax Director's Office (252-9032).
"Automatic bank withdrawal" is being offered for those interested. Residents may fill out a form at the Treasurer's Office or call to have one mailed.
The office will be closed on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31. Those people who want their tax receipt dated in 2010 are asked to mail it to the Treasurer's Office early. Payment must be received by Dec. 30 to be dated in 2010. The date of the check will appear on the tax receipt but the receipt itself will be dated when received.
A 5 percent discount will be allowed on all consolidated real estate and mobile home taxes if paid in full on or before Feb. 15, 2010. Payments made or postmarked after that date are ineligible.
"March 1st is the last day to pay the first half of taxes without penalty," Thompson said. "And October 17th, 2011 is the last day to pay the second half taxes without penalty."
Credit card payments can be made by using the services of Official Payments Corporation by calling 1-800-272-9829 or by going on-line at www.stutsmancounty.org A convenience fee of approximately 2.5 percent is charged by OPAY. Taxpayers may also choose to pay by e-check. There is a $3 fee for this service. Instructions are included with the tax statement.
The office's regular hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
