Tenn. band to perform at Putnam House event
The 12th Annual Putnam House Wine Taste and Auction Fundraiser will be held on Friday, featuring a few new changes to the popular event.
Along with the 18 wines for tasting, the event will bring back its live auction featuring six items ranging in a variety of sizes. Items will be auctioned throughout the evening. The Putnam House Culinary Club will once again offer a culinary dinner for 12 with everyone having the opportunity to win this meal. Raffle tickets are currently being sold throughout the town for just $5 for one ticket or six for $25. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
In addition to appetizers, a fun photo booth and wine, the entertainment this year will be Memphis, Tennessee-based bluegrass band Sorghum Hill.
Sorghum Hill is a group of musicians from the Memphis area. The core of their material is original, but includes traditional gospel as well as a touch of pop, all blended with instrumentation and harmonies.
Band members are Andrea Nash, vocals; Jessie Munson, fiddle; Larry Windham, bass and vocals, and Phillip Cox, guitar and vocals. Munson is the daughter of Ray and Patricia Munson of Robinson, N.D.
Tickets for the Wine Taste and culinary dinner raffle tickets can be purchased by calling Alison Schumann at (701) 652-2090 (leave message) or at the door. Raffle tickets will also be sold throughout the evening. The Putnam House is located at 533 Main St. Should there be inclement weather, the event will be held at the Foster County Fairgrounds. For more information, call Schumann.
This event is sponsored in part through a matching grant from Modern Woodmen of America Chapter 2234. Proceeds from this fundraising event will assist in maintenance of the historic Putnam House, including a partial painting project, along with supporting efforts of providing cultural events to the surrounding area in a historical setting.
