Third suspect arrested in Dilworth VFW burglary
Best you be careful when you taunt the police.
Authorities say a third suspect linked to a December bar burglary in Dilworth, Minn., was arrested Wednesday in upstate New York, soon after telling investigators there was no way they would find him.
Louis Sky Franklin, 22, was arrested on the Akwesasne American Indian reservation by officers from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police department, said Dilworth Police Chief David Miller.
A Clay County, Minn., arrest warrant for burglary and criminal damage to property was issued Dec. 11 for Franklin in connection with an attempt to swipe cash from the Dilworth VFW's ATM in the early morning hours of Dec. 10.
Franklin has been on the run since, but Dilworth investigators tracked him to Akwesasne, a reservation that straddles the Canadian border.
When a Dilworth officer reached Franklin by phone earlier this week, Franklin struck a cocky note. He told the officer that authorities would never find him, Miller said.
"I guess we found him," the chief said.
Extradition back to Clay County isn't squared away yet, Miller said.
Franklin, his mother and another man are suspected of burglarizing the VFW.
Police already have arrested Jogenia Mae Franklin, 42, of Dilworth and Brian William Paddack, 28, of Las Vegas in connection with the burglary.
