Thomas Martin Kautzman, 57, Beaverton, Ore., formerly of Carrington, N.D., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at St. Vincent Medical Center, Portland, Ore.
Mr. Kautzman was born March 31, 1951, at Carrington, the son of Pete and Jennie (Eidsvoog) Kautzman. He grew up in the area and attended school in Carrington where he graduated in 1969. He attended DeVry Institute, Chicago, Ill., for electronics. He entered the U.S. Coast Guard in 1971 and was stationed at Point Reyes, Calif. After he was discharged in 1975 he moved to Portland and worked for Portland State University in electronic/computer operations for the school from 1975 until 2002. He currently worked for BIAMP Systems as a shipping clerk in Portland. He enjoyed bowling, hockey, the Fourth of July and Rose Parades in Beaverton, traveling on his motorcycle and in his camper, growing roses and apple trees and making apple pies.
He is survived by his mother, Carrington; two brothers, Pete (Twila), Wahpeton, N.D., and Michael (Karen), Bismarck, N.D.; and two sisters, Linda (Frank) Waldner and Pamela Kautzman, both Bismarck.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Trinity Lutheran Church, Carrington, with the Rev. Bruce Vold officiating.
Visitation: 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
Burial: Carrington Cemetery, Carrington.
