Charles Linderman of Carrington and Lori Carlson of rural Jamestown will run for both House seats, and Jeff Piehl of Marion will run for the Senate seat.

Linderman served in the North Dakota House of Representatives from 1982 to 1988 and again from 1990 to 1992. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service in Lincoln, Neb., and as an extension specialist for North Dakota State University. Linderman is the Foster County Farmers Union president, a director and secretary of the Arrowwood Prairie Cooperative and North Dakota Soybean Council district director.

In 1990, Carlson began serving on the Spiritwood School Board — a school district that later reorganized to become Barnes County North — where she has served as president since 1992. She has served as Winfield Township clerk for 18 years, on the governing board of the South East Education Cooperative and on the North Dakota Small Organized Schools Board of Directors. She has served as president, treasurer and secretary for the Spiritwood Parent Teachers Organization and as a Just Say No leader. Carlson is an advocate for education and for rural infrastructure development, she said.

Piehl currently serves as secretary of the Marion Equity Elevator, and as president and director of the organization, he was instrumental in forming the Plains Grain and Agronomy LLC and building a new shuttle-loading facility in Enderlin, N.D. Piehl has served as clerk/treasurer for 17 years on the Saratoga Township Board, nine years on the Litchville-Marion School Board, eight years on the Lakeview Cemetery Board, and is past director and president of the Marion Lutheran Church, LaMoure County Farm Services Agency, Marion Wildlife Club and Marion Shipping Association.
