Tornado warning issued for north central Stutsman County
A tornado warning has been issued for north central Stutsman County and southwestern Foster County until 9:45 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 7 miles west of Pingree, or 19 miles south of Carrington and moving north at 40 miles per hour.
The radar indicated rotation.
"This dangerous storm will affect mainly rural areas of north central Stutsman and southwestern Foster counties, including Melville," the National Weather Service stated.
People are advised to take cover now and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, avoiding windows. People in mobile homes, vehicles or outdoors should move to the nearest shetler and protect themselves from debris.
