Train derails outside Casselton

 
 
CASSELTON, N.D. – Emergency crews are responding to a reported train derailment about a mile west of here.
Sgt. Tara Morris of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said deputies have been dispatched to the accident, but she said about 2:40 p.m. that they hadn’t arrived yet and so don’t know the severity of the accident.
Thick, black smoke could be seen from about 15 miles outside of town.Morris said they were still uncertain as to what the railcars were carrying.City Auditor Sheila Klevgard said the incident occurred about a mile west of Casselton about 2 p.m.Casselton is about 20 miles west of Fargo.
