Two die in car-cow crash

Two men died from injuries resulting from a car-cow crash Friday night 12 miles east of Mandaree, N.D.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 27-year-old Mountain Home, Idaho man was driving a 1993 Honda Civic eastbound on BIA 12 en route to Elmer’s Point from Skunk Bay when he struck a black cow on the roadway at 10:29 p.m.

The vehicle left the roadway and entered the north ditch, rolling over multiple times and coming to rest on its wheels. The driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 19-year-old passenger from St. George, Utah, who was wearing his seatbelt, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the deceased have not yet been released, pending family notification. The crash remains under investigation by the NDHP.
