UJ Concert Choir to begin spring tour performances

The University of Jamestown Concert Choir announced its 2014 spring tour performances in North Dakota and Minnesota.

The choir will sing works from a variety of composers and time periods, including Bach’s “Lobet den Hern, alle Heiden,” Dvorak’s “Song to the Moon,” Mozart’s “Mass in C” and “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord” by Moses Hogan.

A freewill offering will be received at each performance.

The choir has toured throughout the U.S., Europe, and, in 2010, China. The choir is preparing for its 11th international tour May 12-23. Destinations include Budapest (Hungary), Prague (Czech Republic), Leipzig (Germany), Vienna (Austria) and Berlin (Germany).

J. Aaron McDermid is the director of choral activities at University of Jamestown. McDermid has written 15 commissioned works for groups such as yhe National Lutheran Choir and The Dale Warland Singers.

* March 2: 5:30 p.m., Nativity Catholic Church, 1825 11th St. S, Fargo

* March 9: 7:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 214 E. Thayer Ave., Bismarck

* March 10: 7:30 p.m., Lutheran Brethren Fellowship, 213 26th St. E, Williston, N.D.

* March 11: 7:30 p.m., Little Flower Catholic Church, 218 3rd St. SE, Rugby, N.D.

* March 12: 7:30 p.m., St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1214 University Ave., Crookston, Minn.

* March 14: 7:30 p.m., Perham Center for the Arts, 101 5th St. NE, Perham, Minn.

* March 15: 7:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 340 5th Ave. S, St. Cloud, Minn.

* March 23: 2 p.m., home concert at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
