Update: Authorities ID motorcycle driver killed Saturday west of Dickinson

A 26-year-old Columbus, Mont., man was killed Saturday afternoon when he lost control of the motorcycle along Highway 10 outside of Dickinson, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Joseph Russell was driving west on a 2006 Harley Davidson about one-quarter of a mile west of Dickinson and was negotiating a curve in the road when he lost control of the motorcycle and slid into the eastbound lane.

Kaylie Ficek, 22, of Dickinson, was driving in the eastbound lane in a 2013 Honda Civic when the motorcycle lost control. She attempted to avoid a collision, but struck the motorcycle driver, who was thrown from his vehicle and came to a rest on the roadway.

Both Ficek and her passenger, 19-year-old Kelbie Ficek of Dickinson, were wearing seat belts and were not injured.

Russell was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center in Dickinson, where he was pronounced dead, the patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
