He was driving a 1997 Ford F150 westbound on U.S. Highway 2 en route to Devils Lake, where he lived, when the vehicle partially left the road and entered the north ditch. Escobar steered left to get his vehicle back on the road, lost control, entered the north ditch and struck a field approach, the patrol said. The Ford F150 went airborne and rolled in a drainage ditch.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected on impact. His airbag did deploy.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office, Devils Lake Police Department, Lake Region Ambulance and Devils Lake Fire Department assisted at the scene.
