Update: Two arrested after body found Saturday near Spiritwood, N.D.
A male and a female are in custody after the body of a young male was found near Spiritwood, N.D., according to Chad Kaiser, Stutsman County sheriff. He said the young male appears to be the victim of a homicide.
Kaiser said the sheriff's department received a call at 12:30 p.m. Saturday that a body had been found north of Interstate 94 west of County Road 62 in Stutsman County. The body of an unknown young black male was found in the ditch on the edge of a dirt field, according to Kaiser.
The cause of death isn't known and an autopsy will be done by the North Dakota Medical Examiners Office.
Kaiser said a vehicle containing a passenger who was a suspect was stopped in Jamestown and a male suspect was taken into custody. A female suspect was also taken into custody. No formal charges have been filed at this time, he said.
Law enforcement is working to confirm the victim's identity.
The sheriff's office is being assisted by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Jamestown Police Department.
