VCSU women’s coach resigns
Valley City State will have its third women’s basketball coach in as many years when next season rolls around.
VCSU had reached the national tournament the previous three seasons under longtime coach Jill DeVries and returned three starters, including honorable mention All-American selection Brittany Lehner. But the Vikings started the season 1-3 then lost four of their last five games to finish the season.
DeVries’ 219 wins are the most in school history.
Hanek had been the head coach for one season at Miles City Community College (Mont.) prior to getting the VCSU job.
