Volunteers donate blood at UJ drive
A total of 89 people volunteered to donate blood, and 74 were able to give during University of Jamestown’s blood drive held Oct. 16-17. Twenty-five people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine, which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation. A total of 96 products were collected, and 13 of the donors gave blood for the first time.
Briana Tayer coordinated the drive, and the University of Jamestown Nursing Students Association sponsored and assisted with recruiting donors, publicity, providing refreshments and registering donors. Others who assisted during the drive were Miranda Pearson and Lexi Horning. Space to hold the drive was provided at UJ.
United Blood Services said donations will help meet the blood needs of many patients in 93 area hospitals served by United Blood Services.
