Waste, recycling summit here in July
The Solid Waste and Recycling Summit is scheduled from 1 to 3:30 p.m. July 10 at the North Dakota Farmers Union Conference Center in Jamestown. The event is being hosted by the South Central Dakota Regional Council Board of Directors.
Household trash, inert landfills, recycling and other topics are on the agenda.
Regional Council board members, who include elected city, county and soil conservation district officials, constantly face the question of what to do with trash. Where do they send it? Should they recycle? How do they manage to keep an inert landfill open?
Regional Council members Carrington Mayor Don Frye and Wells County Soil Conservation District Manager Anne Ehni will co-chair the summit. The summit will include speakers from the North Dakota Health Department and communities that will share what they are doing to handle trash and recycling concerns. Following the panel of speakers, roundtable discussions will be held to identify ways that collaboration throughout the region or state could assist communities to handle trash.
Anyone involved in making decisions, providing solutions, or interested in trash and recycling is encouraged to attend.
South Central Dakota Regional Council serves nine counties: Barnes, Dickey, Foster, Griggs, LaMoure, Logan, McIntosh, Stutsman and Wells.
