West Fargo public works director fired
WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- West Fargo's longtime public works director has been fired.
West Fargo Mayor Rich Mattern tells the Forum that the city ended Barry Johnson's tenure with the city on Monday afternoon.
Mattern says the city attorney has advised him not to comment on the specific reasons for Johnson's firing.
Johnson says he has "no idea" why he was let go. He worked for the city nearly 20 years and his salary was about $111,000 a year.
Mattern says Johnson can appeal the termination to the City Commission.
