Williston deer hunter found safe

WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — Searchers using night-vision gear helped find a deer hunter who spent a night along the Missouri River.

A game warden said 26-year-old Kaleb Trowbridge, of Williston, was hunting with a friend late Monday at the Lewis and Clark Wildlife Management Area south of Williston.

The Bismarck Tribune reported the men separated to bow hunt from different tree stands. His partner reported Trowbridge missing when he didn’t meet up after dark.

Authorities and friends searched the woods and determined Trowbridge got turned around and walked away from his vehicle after seeing an arrow on the ground pointing in the direction he walked.

He was found along the river’s shoreline before dawn on Tuesday morning when he heard a search boat, turned on his headlamp and was spotted.
