Woman dies in two-vehicle accident near Hillsboro
An 89-year-old Borup, Minnesota, woman died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 29 about 4 miles north of Hillsboro, N.D., on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2012 Ford Edge SUV, driven by a 43-year-old woman with the victim and a 17-year-old passenger, both of Borup, was traveling north on I-29 at about 1:50 p.m. The vehicle slowed or stopped in the passing lane to cross the median and head south and a 20-year-old Hannon, N.D., woman driving a 2009 Ford Escape SUV rear-ended the vehicle.
The Ford Edge driver and surviving passenger were taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for treatment of their injuries and the victim was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Escape was taken to Sanford Health in Fargo for treatment.
The NDHP has not released the names of those involved in the crash, which remains under investigation.
