A 35-year-old Detroit Lakes woman was killed by a westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train as she tried to "beat the train" across the tracks, according to police. The woman was carrying the stuffed animal in the police car.

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. -- A woman was killed when she was struck by a Burlington Northern Sante Fe train Tuesday morning.

Authorities say a 35-year-old Detroit Lakes woman, whose name has not been released, had met a friend from Mahnomen, Minn., whose name also is being withheld, at the Amtrak station in Detroit Lakes Tuesday morning.
