Wyo. man dies in ND crash; driver charged with DUI

One person was killed and two others injured Wednesday in a pickup rollover near Hebron, N.D., according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 7:35 p.m. on Stark County Road 45 a mile west and a half mile north of Hebron.

The patrol said Wayne Pauli, 53, Aiken, S.C., was southbound on the county road in a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup when he lost control on a curve on the gravel roadway. The vehicle entered the west ditch and overturned. A passenger, Spencer Glen Rae, 26, Lyman, Wyo., was ejected and died at the scene, the patrol said. Pauli and another passenger, Brett Byrd, 23, Decatur, Ala., were injured and transported by Hebron Ambulance to St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck.

Pauli was charged with DUI, the patrol said.

No one was wearing a seat belt.

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol and Stark County Sheriff's office.
