Ward County inmate hangs self
Ward County authorities say an inmate hanged himself in his cell.
MINOT (AP) — Ward County authorities say an inmate hanged himself in his cell.
Jail Commander Penny Erickson said 52-year-old Durwin Whitelightning was found about 6 a.m. Wednesday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Erickson said White Lightning had been booked into the jail about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on drug charges. Sheriff Vern Erck said Whitelightning used the sheet from his bed to hang himself.
Whitelightning listed residences in Cannonball , N.D., and Eugene, Ore.
