GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — The former bookkeeper for a Grand Forks chiropractor's office has pleaded guilty to theft of property in the embezzlement of nearly $68,000.
Tara Jo Melin of Dilworth, Minn., entered the plea this week as part of a deal with prosecutors. The 28-year-old also agreed to pay back $20,000 before her Feb. 3 sentencing.
If the judge approves the deal, Melin will serve 90 days in prison and five years' probation.
Chiropractor Wallace King reported Melin to police in July. He told officers that Melin withdrew the money from his business account between April 2008 and April 2009.
