WADENA, Minn. – A toddler from here is a finalist as a babyGap model for the clothing company’s 2009 contest, which drew a million contestants.

Elliana Edwards’ bio says “Elliana, 2, from Wadena, MN, is a real girl’s girl. She loves shoes, shopping and painting her nails. When she isn’t adorned in jewelry and watching ‘The Little Mermaid,’ she’s having fun tackling her three big brothers.”

Now she has a new achievement to add to her short biography.

Pam Wallack, president of babyGap, GapKids and GapMaternity said this year’s contest drew more competitors than ever.

“There are so many outstanding babies and kids to pick from, choosing just 20 finalists to represent our brand out of all these adorable children was challenging to say the least,” she said in a news release.

In late November, the finalists were flown to San Francisco for a Gap photo shoot.

And now those visiting the Gap Web site will decide which children become the company’s four winners. Through Dec. 21 people can log on to ww.gap.com/castingcall and vote to decide the four winners – one baby girl and one baby boy for babyGap and one girl and one boy for GapKids — who will be featured in store windows coast-to-coast and will receive other prizes from Gap and DisneyFamily.com.

Gap Inc. is a retailer that offers clothing and accessories under the Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime and Athleta brand names.

The Wadena (Minn.) Pioneer Journal is owned by Forum Communications Co.
