West Fargo superintendent resigning
West Fargo School Superintendent Dana Diesel Wallace is resigning after a rocky 3½-year tenure.
WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — West Fargo School Superintendent Dana Diesel Wallace is resigning after a rocky 3½-year tenure.
She says several opportunities have come her way that she finds exciting and energizing. She did not elaborate, though she said she did not have a job lined up. Her last day as superintendent will be June 30, 2010.
The 49-year-old Diesel Wallace has been criticized for making changes too fast after she started in 2006, for being divisive and for causing low morale among staff. In April 2008, the School Board discussed not renewing her contract.
But School Board President Tom Gentzkow credits Diesel Wallace with boosting student achievement and says he would recommend her to other districts.
