Letter to the editor: Sun story on Iraq veteran’s plight appreciated

Thank you so much to The Jamestown Sun for the wonderful story on the John Awender family. The community including the surrounding area came on Wednesday to the Knights of Columbus Hall and showered the family with support financially and emotionally. Of course, many groups were well represented in the 500 people that showed up between the hours of 4:30 and 7:30. The article sparked interest and phone calls from concerned citizens. As part of the Jamestown College Caring Committee, we want to thank everyone for their support. Thanks to The Jamestown Sun for their heartwarming and positive message. We can feel proud of the results and most importantly we can honor and support Staff Sgt. John Awender for his service to our country.
