Thank you for sharing the editorial regarding recycling. It is a great call to action. I have heard it said that people may hesitate to recycle because they are unsure if the center will be there for long. Not recycling will ensure the center continues to navigate challenges. The more volume taken in, the easier it is for them to continue.
Recycling is just like any other habit. Once you start, it really isn’t a big deal to continue. After you’ve started recycling, it is eye opening to see how much garbage you personally can divert from the landfill. Until the center closed in February, my husband participated in my recycling efforts to humor me. After two weeks of throwing all of our garbage in our bin headed for the landfill, he was fired up about recycling. We are a family of four, and found our contribution to the landfill had at least doubled during the time the recycling center was closed.
I will add one correction. The recycling center is located at the corner of First Street West and Third Avenue Southwest, versus Second Avenue Southwest.
