A 52-year-old Barney, N.D., sugar beet trucker charged with negligent homicide in connection with a fatal collision in Wahpeton, N.D., on Sept. 29 was in court Monday in Richland County.

Cathleen Dean, the truck driver, waived her right to a preliminary hearing and asked for a trial date to be set. No date is set yet, court records show.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, 18-year-old Annie Gjesdal was driving west on 16th Avenue in Wahpeton when she was struck by a truck Dean was driving. Troopers said Gjesdal had a green light at the intersection where the crash happened, but Dean had a red light.
