The city of Jamestown declared a snow emergency to be in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday morning.
Travel is not advised during this time, according to a message from the city engineer’s office, but essential city personnel are needed to report to work as scheduled or called.
At this time there is no parking ban on snow emergency routes. If a ban is issued, a public service announcement will be issued.
Currently two Jamestown Police Department four-wheel drive SUVs are patrolling the snow emergency routes to make sure the roadways remain open, said Cpl. James Scherbenske.
The entire state is “shut down” and Interstate 29 is completely closed, Scherbenske said.
“For the most everybody is staying at home and that’s where they should be,” he said.
