The Jamestown Police Department issued 12 warning tickets for violations of the city’s snow route ordinance over the weekend.
“It’s a learning curve,” said Dave Donegan, Jamestown police chief. “As soon as we’re confident people know where they shouldn’t park during snow emergencies we’ll start issuing tickets.”
The Jamestown ordinance prohibits street parking on streets that are designated as snow emergency routes but only when the city has declared a snow emergency.
“That is what people need to understand,” Donegan said. “Not every snow event will result in the declaration of a snow emergency. People will need to monitor the situation to know when they are prohibited from parking on emergency routes.”
