Reister Meats and Bakery has become a new successful business on the main street of Medina, according to its owners, Clyde and Penny Reister. Speaking to the Medina Lions Club’s supper meeting on Dec. 21, Clyde Reister said the retail outlet in Medina was exceeding their expectations for their meat processing, bakery and catering business.
Located in the former Medina Drug store, the Reisters refurbished and opened the store earlier this year and put in a bakery as part of the new business. Reister said the retail store has become a primary coffee shop for the Medina area community.
“We already have groups of regulars who come to have coffee and meet their friends,” he said.
He said no meat processing is done at the Medina store, but the store features all the meats that were prepared at their processing plant on their farm just north of Streeter. The store also carries a variety of seafood.
“We been able to double our local retail sales through the store,” he said.
Reister said the business will soon have five full-time employees, as well as five part-time employees. He said the community has provided “excellent” support to the business. “I wanted to do something in my hometown, because I believe in investing locally,” he said.
The Reisters also do catering and have a catering wagon for community events.
Medina Lions President Chris Wingire expressed thanks to club members who assisted in arranging Santa’s visit to the Medina School. Pastor Karl Limvere gave the invocation. Member spouses were in attendance as part of the club’s Christmas observance. The next meeting of the Medina Lions will be held at noon Jan. 6 at the Medina Café.
