Boat, water safety programs at YMCA
The Corps of Engineers Pipestem Dam and Lake Project will sponsor two boat and water safety programs at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. today at the James River YMCA. The free program is for children ages 5-12.

The free program is for children ages 5-12.
Life jackets and personal floatation devices, hypothermia, boat safety equipment, ice safety and rescue, and general boating rules will be discussed.
All participants in the event will be allowed to operate electric mini-boats in the YMCA pool as part of the safety program. Swimsuits or lifejackets are not needed.
