HUGO, Minn. (AP) — A restaurant that has been a Hugo landmark for over 100 years is considered a total loss after a fire Sunday morning.

City officials say the fire at Carpenter's Steak House on Highway 61 was believed to have started on the second floor.

City administrator Mike Ericson says Carpenter's was the town's ``signature restaurant' and a piece of city history.

Fire departments from Hugo, White Bear Lake, Forest Lake and Centennial responded, with other departments on standby.

Hugo is about 25 miles northeast of Minneapolis.
