Dream team fulfills four dreams
Hi-Acres Manor Day Dream Team recently fulfilled four resident dreams. Each year Alice Johansen sponsored a table at the annual Youth For Christ Banquet. This year her dream was to again sponsor a table. She requested assistance from the Day Dream Team to help her attend the banquet. On Oct. 26, Johansen and Day Dream member Paula Woods enjoyed the banquet, the meal and special guest Taylor Mason. They said they had a wonderful evening.

On Nov. 6, one day before her 100th birthday, the Day Dream Team surprised Bertha Dallmann with flowers, a card signed by Hi-Acres Manor staff, and a cake for her special day. The team sang “Happy Birthday” to her. She shared her cake with staff and residents.
Lois Peterson spent many years caring and giving to others, forgetting about herself. The Day Dream team stepped in to “pay it forward” and treated Peterson to a complimentary permanent and haircut. She said she couldn’t believe anyone would do something so nice for her.
Elva June Murray remarked to Day Dream member Diana Olson that she would love to go out and have a “nice juicy steak.” On Nov. 9, Murray and her friend, Carol Koosman, met at Applebee’s restaurant for an evening of fun, conversation and an “excellent steak.” Day Dream members Diana Olson and Marlys Perry helped make this evening possible.
The Day Dream project was developed to fulfill a resident’s specific request or “Day Dream,” which may have been an everyday activity prior to residing at the nursing center. Anyone who has questions about the Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center Day Dream Team, or would like to submit donations or memorials, or assist in any way, contact Robin Gumke, chair, or Nancy Steckler, co-chair, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center, 1300 Second Place N.E., Jamestown, or call 252-5881.
