Letter to the editor: Churches should remove themselves from the ELCA

I write in response to the Rev. Susan Lester’s letter to the editor in the Jan. 5 issue of The Jamestown Sun. She said it was God’s decision for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to allow openly homosexual clergy.

I write in response to the Rev. Susan Lester’s letter to the editor in the Jan. 5 issue of The Jamestown Sun. She said it was God’s decision for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to allow openly homosexual clergy. Well then, what about abortion? Did God decide for Roe v. Wade to become the basis for U.S. law? It was not God’s decision for the ELCA to allow gay clergy, either. I believe churches should remove themselves from the ELCA, and maybe they’ll reconsider this decision.
