Police arrest Willmar man involved in standoff

WILLMAR, Minn. – Police here arrested a 42-year-old man late Thursday night after he held authorities at bay during a five-hour standoff.

WILLMAR, Minn. – Police here arrested a 42-year-old man late Thursday night after he held authorities at bay during a five-hour standoff.

David Wayne Chambers was arrested on suspicion of assault and terroristic threats for a standoff that began with officers responding to a report of a man with a gun threatening to kill himself and threatening to kill any law enforcement officer who came to his residence.

Officers were unable to talk the man into surrendering so they made neighbors evacuate their homes.

Authorities charged the house at 11:55 p.m. Thursday and arrested Chambers, using “less than lethal force.”

One officer suffered minor injuries in the incdent.
