NWS: Jamestown could see above-average temperature

The National Weather Service predicts average temperatures to higher than throughout the next 90 days — a prediction looking possible with highs in the low 30s expected this week.

NWS predicts temperatures will average above normal through March. That means some days may be higher and other days lower than normal, said Ken Simosko, meteorologist for the National Weather Ser-vice. But overall, temperatures are expected to average above each month’s normal.

Jamestown’s average high in January is 17 degrees. Its average low is 1 degree below, a 30-degree differ-ence from Friday’s low of 32 degrees below zero.

“We’ve been a little cold now but the thinking is that we’re going to come around average here,” Simosko said.
