National Wear Red Day in February

The American Heart Association is encouraging individuals and companies to celebrate National Wear Red Day on Feb. 5 by planning local activities. Landmarks such as Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building and other prominent locations across the country will be lit red for the occasion.

The American Heart Association is encouraging individuals and companies to celebrate National Wear Red Day on Feb. 5 by planning local activities.

Landmarks such as Niagara Falls, the Empire State Building and other prominent locations across the country will be lit red for the occasion. In North Dakota, Jiffy Lube, Macy’s, Hornbacher’s, Innovis Hospital, MeritCare and West Acres Mall, along with many other local businesses and organizations, will host activities on Feb. 5 or during the month of February.

Log on to www.GoRedND.com and click on the National Wear Red Day link for more information. Wear Red Day organizers are required to register, but there is no charge to access the materials. Organizers will receive a Wear Red Day pin.

Downloadable tools include how-to guide with event ideas, a promotional flyer, tribute cards, a save the date card and e-card, posters, newsletter, risk factor sheets and thank-you tax receipts.

National Wear Red Day activity ideas include: wear red, host a healthy potluck featuring red food, distribute e-mails or newsletters with healthy lifestyle tips, light a building red, host a brown bag lunch and learn, organize a fundraising event, spearhead a brisk winter walk or recognize survivors.
