Huebler speaks on Germany at Kiwanis

The guest speaker at the Jan. 4 Kiwanis meeting was Maria Huebler, foreign exchange intern with Youth For Christ.

Huebler is from Germany. She shared information on the area of Germany that is her home as well as the differences she is seeing between Germany and the U.S. She said was looking for a way to serve Christ after graduating from high school and applied with Youth For Christ. Youth For Christ in Jamestown was interested in an intern and chose Huebler based on information on her application. She shared some of the programs she is involved with at Youth For Christ along with her desire to make a difference in the lives of youth. Huebler will be in Jamestown through February. Then she will return to Germany and intends to assist with building a church in Berlin.

Clarence Mittleider Jr. was inducted as a new Kiwanis member at the meeting.

Kiwanis members who delivered Meals on Wheels Jan. 5 include Don and Sharon Caine, Tim Burchill, Bob Welsch, Jim Lees, Harold Baugh, Darryl Bernston and Chuck Axtman.

The scheduled speaker for the Jan. 18 noon Kiwanis meeting is Laurie McGuire who will give an update on the senior citizens center.

Kiwanis meets at noon on Mondays at the Lantern Room.
