Nineteen-year-old Stevie Buckley was convicted of manslaughter last October in the Feb. 4, 2009, death of her 6-month-old daughter, Kyra, who authorities say was starved and dehydrated.
South Central District Judge Bruce Haskell sentenced Buckley on Tuesday to 10 years in prison with five years suspended. She will be on supervised probation for five years following her prison term. She also was sentenced on drug charges but will serve no additional prison time.
