Cancer network to hold monthly group

Help for Hope and Healing, Jamestown’s Cancer Support Network, will be hosting a monthly Cancer Support Group. The first group will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jamestown. The speaker will be Tracy Johnk, social worker at Jamestown Hospital, who will address the topic of navigating the medical system when you have been diagnosed with cancer. Those attending can share their own experiences of dealing with cancer, if they feel comfortable doing so. Participants will have time to visit with others informally if they chose.

Help for Hope and Healing is a branch of the Jamestown Area Grief Support Team that deals with meeting the practical needs of cancer patients and their families.

The support group experience will give cancer patients and their families an opportunity to network with others going through a similar experience. It is the goal of HHH to provide a monthly support group experience for anyone dealing with the effects of cancer. These meeting will include some type of program, such as a speaker, but will allow participants to share their experiences and give and receive support from others with a similar experience.
