Water and sewer use in northwest Jamestown can return to normal now that a force main near Nickeus Park has been repaired and the lift station is operational again, according to the city engineer's office.

The city shut down the lift station that serves the area north and west of Nickeus Park earlier today to allow the city to repair a break in the force main. Force mains are sewer pipes that carry sewage under pressure from one lift station to another.

The public in that area had been asked to refrain from using the water or sewer system. Normal use can continue, the city engineer's office said.
