N.D. extends disaster loan program for producers

State officials have extended by several months a disaster loan program for North Dakota farmers and ranchers because of harsh weather and depressed beef prices.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — State officials have extended by several months a disaster loan program for North Dakota farmers and ranchers because of harsh weather and depressed beef prices.

Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the Industrial Commission has extended the Farm Disaster Relief Loan Program until June. The commission oversees the state-owned Bank of North Dakota.

Goehring says that under the program, the bank will work with eligible producers and lenders to make sure the producers have money for the upcoming crop season.
