MINOT (AP) — The Minot Park District is beefing up security at parks after problems with vandalism in recent years.
Maintenance Superintendent Randy Burckhard said 10 video-surveillance cameras are being installed, along with signs announcing their presence. Alarm systems also will be installed in some buildings.
Burckhard said the vandalism is “getting out of hand.” He said there were 15 documented instances last year.
The vandalism has gone beyond graffiti. It includes broken windows, crashed vehicles, the burning of a replica water tower and damage to a statue of Theodore Roosevelt.
